Adrian was a legendary American costume designer of the 1930's and 1940's who designed numerous creations for MGM's major films. Having designed over 250 gowns, "Gowns by Adrian" can be seen in many silver screen credits. Adrian designed costumes for Greta Garbo, Norma Shearer, Jean Harlow, Katharine Hepburn and Joan Crawford, but it was Hedy Lamarr's costume in Ziegfeld girl that inspired our piece. In the 1941 film Ziegfeld Girl, the opulence of Hedy's gown was unrivaled - draped in sheer chiffons and dripping with sparkling stars. Hedy's headpiece was a heavenly halo of crystallized star embellishments, hovering above her angelic face. Starlets such as Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn were also lovers of classic crowns, with sparkling silver stones, which we've combined with the opulence of Hedy's, into a ready-to-wear head piece.
