Vivien Leigh, as Cleopatra in the 1945 technicolor film, was brilliant in blue hues, dripping with Egyptian glamour and luxurious costumes, complete with headwear of royal blue and gold. The film was very costly and elaborate, having ordered sand from Egypt to get the right cinematic color on film. Vivien Leigh's striking features and porcelain pearl skin shine through in a deco style brooch, infused with rich blue and a pearl, as a symbol of Vivien's beautiful eye color and skin. Vivien Leigh’s natural eye color was blue, but was color corrected to Scarlett O’Hara’s green in post-production on the 1939 film, Gone With The Wind. Vivien was often draped in velvet, throughout the classic film, and seen laying against velvet tufted headboards and curtains, further inspiring the velvet turban design.
